Georges Cronsteadt has competed in his fair share of paddle races and has dreamed of the ultimate competition board for years. We’re happy to announce that thanks to Georges’ feedback and advice we have a board worthy to carry his name.
We focused our design for open ocean races. Our primary goal was to create a board that stable enough to go fast no matter what direction the water moves. This board handles side chop better than any board we’ve paddled, catches bumps like a downwind board should, and busts through upwind like no other.
A few design tweaks translated into a perfect combination that translated into getting more power per stroke. First, we recessed the deck to get your center of gravity lower and closer to the water. Then we rounded off the tail enough to give you even more stability without causing drag. After we got all the specs down, we then focused on weight. We used unidirectional carbon reinforcement bands at precise positions right under the biaxial carbon layers, doing that, gave the board the stiffness we wanted but kept it’s weight super light.
Georges gave the final stamp of approval after coming in 3rd at the ISA World Long Distance Race in Fiji in November 2016. After the race he looked at us, smiled and said… “This is the one. Māururu!”
That was enough for us to put this board into production and make it available for you.
